Zuma Ridge to Buzzards Roost Meetup, Saturday, April 14th
On Saturday, January 20th, we will do a conditioning hike leaving from Zuma Ridge Trailhead and climbing to Buzzards Roost, the high-point on Zuma Ridge. Upon our return to the trailhead, we will have covered approximately 8.4 miles with an elevation gain/loss of ~2150 feet. Plan to spend approximately 3 to 3.5 hours for this jaunt.

Meeting time at the trailhead: 8:00am.
Hike Type: Group & conditioning.
Level: Regard this undertaking as strenuous for distance and elevation gain.
Route Type: Out and back.
Distance: ~8.4 miles.
Elevation gain: ~2150 feet; maximum grade ~14%.
Terrain: Fire road for the entire distance.
Dogs allowed: Not for this hike.

Driving & Parking Directions
Zuma Ridge Trailhead is located at the end of Busch Drive in Malibu. From PCH head inland on Busch Drive and proceed to the end of the road. There is a parking lot adjacent to the trailhead and parking is also available on the street.
On all my hikes, I expect everyone coming to have signed up themselves, read the write-up, and arrive informed and prepared.
Please wear brush-resistant pants, one or more wicking shirts appropriate to the temperature, comfortable hiking shoes or light boots, your favorite undergarments and accessories, and a light backpack.
Please bring at least two liters of water, snacks, an extra layer of clothing, a charged cell phone, identification, a small first-aid kit, bug repellant and sunscreen, a waterproof shell if rain is forecast, and any medications or anything else you might need on the trail.
Please do not leave anything of value in your car, at this or any other trailhead.
The Thousand Oaks Trailblazers Meetup
Our hikes are for people hiking at an intermediate level or above, who enjoy time outdoors with fun and friendly people sharing similar hiking interests and fitness conditioning goals.
Our hike format emphasizes easy-to-access and scenic 5-8 mile routes in the mountains surrounding the Conejo Valley with[masked] foot elevation gains, a relatively fast pace [masked] mph) and limited rest stops. We can conduct optional technique discussions and conditioning exercises based on individual and group interest. Total hiking time is normally[masked] hours.
We schedule our hikes for Saturday mornings as the season allows, providing people with the opportunity to participate in conditioning hikes and tune-up for bigger adventures.
