Ye Old Alpine Tavern for hot chocolate, on to Mt. Lowe, down Echo Mt. to Cobb Estate.

~13 miles/~3500' gain Join us for a journey to the past.

The Hike: Meet at Cobb Estate 8:00 AM (I will be on the south side of the gate) and carpool over to Chaney Trail Road trailhead. It's a 2-mile shuttle. At 8:20 AM we take the beautiful Sunset Ridge Trail and old railway bed up to Ye Old Alpine Tavern site and arrive for hot chocolate. Stay for 20-30 minutes looking around at displays, talking and resting. We will re-group and summit Mt. Lowe and descend via Inspiration Point to Castle Canyon trail to Echo Mt. trail.

Distance: ~13 miles

Gain: ~3500'

Duration: ~8 hours

Difficulty: Moderately Strenuous (Not for beginners)

Bring: 2-3 liters of water/electrolytes, snacks, lunch, boots, poles helpful, clothing layers for weather, rain/wind breaker. 10 essentials.

***Warning: Hiking is an at risk activity. Hike at your own cost and risk.

*** No sweep, stay with group, or know the trails and carry a good map.

Restrooms: None at trailhead. Use businesses on Lake Ave. or local city park bathroom about 1/4 mile away.

Summit Weather:

Heavy rain/snow or fire cancels.

Getting to the Carpool meeting place:
From the I-210 Foothill Freeway in Pasadena, exit at Lake Avenue. Drive north for 3.5 miles to the end of Lake Avenue (where it intersects with the terminus of Loma Alta Drive running east and west). Park along the street, turn wheels in, no Adventure Pass needed, read signs.

How to find us:Meet at Cobb Estate gate and carpool short distance. I'll be wearing a light-blue bandanna.
