What we'll do
This is a easy beautiful out and back hike with lots of opportunities to stop, look and take photos. The total mileage will be between 6-8 miles. We will park at the upper trailhead since it has more parking and a port-a-potty. The first 1/4-1/2 miles is on decomposed granite path leading to a beautiful viewpoint of the Cascades and some of the burn areas of last year's Milli Fire. We continue down the trail to a spur to meet up with the Metolius-Windigo Trail. This is 1.5 miles out and back along the Whychus Creek. Back at the spur, we'll continue on the Whycus Creek Trail. There are rocks to climb up and over and one tree for about 1/4 mile. At the top, we'll be on a well maintained trail which is muddy in spots right now. We'll pass a burn area where the Milli Fire jumped the creek. Eerie and fascinating at the same time. We'll continue until we get to the lower parking lot, turn around and head back to the upper trail.

What to bring
The usual: backpack with water snacks/lunch, hiking boots or trail shoes and hiking poles aren't necessary, but feel free to bring them.
