What we'll do

***This hike is not for beginners. Due to the distance, pace and elevation gain, this hike is rated as intermediate. We hike as a group and we wait at hilltops and junctions in order to keep the group together. If you are an especially fast, or a slow hiker, this may not be the hike for you.***

Distance / Time: 6 - 7 miles / 2 - 3 hours

Departure Time: 7:00 AM. This hike will start at the designated time. Please arrive 10 minutes early to allow for parking and introductions.

About This Hike: This wilderness park covers more than 1500 acres of canyons, scenic rock formations and grassy rolling hills. We will begin on Serrano trail for about one mile before we begin the climb up dreaded hill. This is a strenuous hill that continues for about one mile and an approximate 1,000 foot elevation gain. Dont worry, climb at your own pace and we will group up at the top. We will then proceed to Four Corners and from there, head to Billy Goat where you will again be challenged. While climbing the ridge on Billy Goat, you will see how it acquired its name. We then pass Four Corners again and return via Sleepy Hollow and Serrano Trails.

Directions: From the 405 or 5 Fwys exit at Bake Pkwy, go north toward the hills for about 5 miles to Portola. Turn right on Portola Pkwy. Proceed a short distance to Glenn Ranch (signal) and turn right into the shopping area. Park near Wahoos, but be considerate of the patrons and park closer to the business buildings. There is a restroom inside the Starbucks.
