Join us for theWellness Symposium for the Youth Dancer

Mercy Health Performing Arts Medicine is hosting an informative symposium created specifically for dancers, instructors and parents. With the recently passed Senate Bill 252, "Lindsays Law", Ohio High School students, youth athletes, their parents and coaches are now required to be informed and educated on the nature and warning signs of sudden cardiac arrest. Lindsays Law is named after Lindsay Love Davis, our symposium's keynote speaker. She is a national heart health advocate and former Miss Ohio who suffers from a heart condition and has since dedicated her career to raising awareness of this potentially fatal condition.

This day could be a game changer. At this informative symposium created specifically for male and female dancers (approximately ages 818) and dance instructors youll learn about nutrition, mental strategies to help overcome obstacles, and how to prevent and recover from common dance injuries. Youll also hear about techniques that can immediately impact your daily routine as a dancer, including information on injury prevention and strengthening. And internationally renown Lindsay Davis, our keynote speaker, is sure to inspire you!

**IMPORTANT**All Dancers (18 or Older) or Parents of the Student Dancer (Under age 18) must complete, print and bring with them a STUDENT DANCERS WAIVER AND RELEASE.

Lindsay Davis, a former Miss Ohio, was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy at age 17. She is an advocate who helped in the passage of SB252, known as Lindsays Law, in the Ohio state legislature with Sen. Cliff Hite. Lindsays Law requires all coaches and teachers to undergo education on the symptoms of sudden cardiac arrest. She is currently working to get other states to pass similar legislation in addition to a law that requires CPR training as a high school graduation requirement. Davis is also a guest writer for USA Today Sports and Sports Illustrated in addition to being associated editor of Open Heart BMJ, the online cardiology edition of the British Medical Journal.
