Songwriting happens with inspiration and intention, along with time & space. Join us for an Upstream Retreat where we will provide time and space at Murphy's Resort, and inspiration from coaches who are seasoned song-writers, such as Esme Patterson, Clay Rose, and Arthur Lee Land/Carol Lee. This package includes workshops, performances by instructors, plus opportunities for performance by students. Retreat limited to 30 students, split into classes of no more than 15 for most sessions. Some group sessions.
$185. Workshops (2 full days) & Ticket to Listening Room Performance by Clay Rose & Esme Patterson
LODGING (REQUIRED). Continental Breakfast included.
NOTE: A minimum purchase of $100 per student for lodging is required. Non-student family members are included under the following circumstances:
FRIDAY, February 1
4pm or after: Check in
6-8: Dinner provided at local venue (TBD) with singer/songwriter, Jonny Miller of The Lonsesome Days. performance-open to public.
SATURDAY, February 2
9 am: Breakfast and Welcome in the community room with songs.
9:45: Break into 2 groups.
10-12: Group 1/Clay Rose/Community room; Group 2/Esme Patterson/House
1-3: Group 2/Clay Rose/Community room; Group 1/Esme Patterson/House
3-5: Combined groups/instructors. Writing prompts, how to collaborate, small groups break off with coaching by instructors.
c. 7 PM: PERFORMANCE BY Clay Rose & Esme Patterson @ Masonic Lodge
This will be open to non workshop guests by invitation/RSVP. Tickets for non-students $15
Buffet served. Alcohol available for purchase vended by a local non-profit--the Estes Arts District

Arthur was musicaldirector forlegendary folk-rock iconDonovanin a special performance on his Sunshine Superman 50th Anniversary Tour featuring membersofElephant Revivaland Railroad Earth. Arthur Lee Land has been a much loved staff member as the guitarinstructor atthe Rocky Mountain Folks Festival Song School on Planet Bluegrass in Lyons CO since 2003.
