Unearthed Song & Poetry is an open mic series at home.stead bakery & cafe that happens every 3rd Wednesday of the month. Each month we feature a rising musician and poet and encourage any and all poets and musicians to sign up to share 2 pieces of their work. Doors open at 7:30pm and the show starts at 8pm. $4 cover at the door.
Our featured poet of the month is Christine Casson. Christine is the author of After the First World, a book of poems. Her work has appeared in numerous journals and anthologies and she has also published critical essays on the work of Leslie Marmon Silko and the poetry of Linda Hogan and Robert Penn Warren. She is currently at work on her second book of poems, and is also writing a book of non-fiction that explores the relationship between trauma and memory. She is Scholar- / Writer-in-Residence at Emerson College.
Our featured musician this month is Prateek Poddar. Prateek is a singer-songwriter from Boston, Massachusetts. He first picked up the guitar in middle school, and began writing songs in college influenced both by classic folk artists such as Simon and Garfunkel and contemporary artists such as Jason Isbell and Ryan Adams. After releasing an EP, "Walking in my Sleep," in 2016, Prateek has finally released his debut single "Emma," available on Spotify, iTunes, and all other platforms where fine music is sold.
