Two Days at Duke is a primarily a social gathering of the people you enjoyed the most while at college. However, the gathering has the added benefit of expanding the social and business base of those that attend. The event is organized by former students in cooperation with the administration.
The event occcured for the first time in 2015 with over 250 attendees. Without exception, everyone had an outstanding time, and as a result, there has been popular demand to make this event a recurring one where people can reconnect with old friends and also engage new friends from other classes. Here is one of the highlight videos from 2015:http://www.jibjab.com/view/WLUxGcXBQnSRBeg9PNKR8Q/P>
Driven by social media and word of mouth, you are responsible for passing along this invitation to those that you want to attend via email, Facebook, Twitter, and links to this webpage. By definition, then, the people who show up are either "friends" or "friends of friends" which generally means the same people you looked forward to seeing in college.
In 2015 we focussed primarily on the classes of the late '80's and early '90s. This time we would like to encourage that people of all classes attend who are touched by this word of mouth and social media invitation. If your friend forwarded you this link, you are welcome, and we look forward to seeing you.
The event will consist of social parties and events encouraging engagement with members of the administration and athletic department. Those events will be firmed up as we approach the weekend. Duke also plays football against Florida State that weekend.
For now, we need to know that you are going to come and we need to know if we need to get you a room. We are reserving a block at the Washington Duke at a discounted price. They are holding the block for one week (til 3/17 at 5PM central). If you would like a room, please buy one by then in the tickets section. Further, if you are planning to attend, simply RSVP in the tickets section.
Regarding rooms, there will be a market to offload some of the rooms if your plans change in the future, and you are unable to come. However, we can not promise that everyone will be accommodated. We were able to accommodate all cancellations in 2015.
Come for the weekend only or come beginning Thursday night if your schedule allows. I will be arriving on Thursday night because I feel it makes for a more relaxing weekend.
Forever Young at Duke,
Your Host Committee
