Early educators are at risk of experiencing the toxic stress that comes with working with children and families impacted by trauma. The YMCA CRS Foster Child Care Bridge Program is providingtraining opportunities to assist providers in fostering a greater understanding of trauma-informed care and gain the knowledge necessary to combat burnout, vicarious trauma, and compassion fatigue. Participants will have the opportunity to explore areas of challenge and success concerning self- care and develop a plan that maximizes the providers ability to stay emotionally balanced and motivated to deliver the highest level of service possible.

Session 4: Identify Signs of Compassion Fatigue.

Self-awareness is the first step in identifying potential stressors in your personal and professional life that effect your caregiving ability. In order to consistently and efficiently be a support and care for children who have experienced trauma, adults have to practice and maintain their own well-being. Through modeling and self-practice Care Providers are also helping children build their ability to regulate and trust. In this first module we will learn to recognize signs of compassion fatigue that include, stress, burnout and secondary traumatic stress so you can better care for yourself and the children in your program.

For optimum benefit we recommended you attend this training series in session order. Please register for each training separately.
