The importance of high-quality instruction and positive educator-student interactions in promoting positive outcomes for students across the lifespan is well documented. High levels of occupational stress and low levels of social-emotional well-being impact the retention of high-quality educators and the effectiveness of their practices. This is particularly true for educators working with children from high needs backgrounds. This three-hour workshop addresses the topic of adult resilience and is designed especially for those working in educational settings.
The workshop introduces eight different evidence-based practices. Each practice is designed to teach educators skills and routines that can help manage stress and enhance social-emotional wellbeing as well as promote positive educator-student interactions. Practices are grounded in the resilience literature and stem from Acceptance and Mindfulness, Positive Psychology and Cognitive-Behavioral Principals. A particular focus is paid to self-care for teachers working with children who have impacted by trauma.
During the training, participants will have the opportunity to win a number of door prizes! Additionally, each participant will be given a certificate of completion that can be used to verify the use of professional education hours. UTSS tutors will be paid for their time in attendance.
