Women new to Calgary often find themselves preoccupied with immediate settlement concerns for several years after arriving, increasing their chances of economic isolation. Many of these women hesitate in approaching government health services, creating precarity in their immediate economic security. Those who hesitate in accessing health services often resort to caring for their loved ones on their own, forgoing opportunities for employment or study. This in turn has a direct impact on the ultimate success of their integration.
The conference will bring leading researchers, practitioners, experts as well as employers and students together with newcomer women that are currently undergoing the challenges of economic integration in various parts of Alberta and Canada.
*If you are a newcomer who has resided in Canada for fewer than 5 years, please contact us for free admission. Note: a limited number of free tickets will be available for this event.
