What we'll do - This is a service trip!
No matter where we live, the ocean is our life support system. Thats why the Sierra Club is teaming up with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and the PennState Master Watershed Stewards to help keep our ocean and waterways clean, and wed like you to join us! To keep debris from reaching the Delaware River and Bay, we are hosting a cleanup on April 14 (Sat.) at the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum, from 8:30a to 12:00p. There are kayaks available and lots of ground work to do. Difficulty level: mild to moderate, self-paced, involves sitting in a boat in a low-tide marsh, or walking in areas around the Darby Creek, marsh, coast, and wetlands. We will work under light rain, but will cancel under heavy rain or lightning during the work period. Sierra Club members and friends and family members, Master Watershed Stewards, other environmental activists, and all others who want to help improve the coastal Atlantic Ocean are invited.

Enjoy a morning at low tide at the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge by improving the habitats of marine and coastal animals and plants on the tidal marsh and Darby Creek. The Heinz NWR struggles with regular deposition of significant debris from Philadelphia, and keeps this trash from making its way into the Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. What to bring
Wear clothes that might need to be discarded after this activity. Other needs: individual water supplies (no single-use bottles), gloves if desired, waterproof shoe or boots.

Important to know
Participants will be required to sign a liability waiver for the Sierra Club and for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at HNWR Tinicum.
