This introductory talk will introduce the functions & relations of composition: a simple writing framework that students can use for composition at the sound, word, phrase & sentence level, and transfer to make sense of new reading and writing experiences. Students will develop their relational thinking processes as they learn how language is organized to convey meaning.
Following this presentation, teachers will have the opportunity to participate in a series of training sessions in composition, focusing on the structural relations in phonology, morphology & syntax, and relating sentences to compose cohesive paragraphs. Presentations will be in English, with English and French examples. There will be an option of holding subsequent sessions separately for French and English teachers.
