This field trip is dependent on weather.

Photographing the Milky Way isn't as tough as it seems. It just requires the right equipment and patience. Foto Dono will be hosting a Low Light excursion to Caspersen Beach. There you should have an opportunity to photograph the Milky Way, among a few other things. Trying to photograph at that location does have its challenges, mainly because of light pollution. However most of the shooting will be at the beach or similar spots.
The main goal for the field trip is to provide an experience in creating a single shot exposure or multiple exposures for stacking of the night sky. These images will then need to be rendered in post with Lightroom, Photoshop or other editing software. However, the location also provides other opportunities to create images in Low Light with interesting landscapes. Dono will be guiding you to these spots.

Field Trip Fee- The fee for this field trip is $29. This provides camera instruction and directions on making images of the Milky Way. The fee may be paid on site the night of field trip. This is a cash only option. No change will be provided. To choose this option select the "Pay on Location ticket." If you don't require instruction but would like to join Dono, select the "No Instruction Option."

All participants must be registered by April 1st. You can register here via Eventbrite or in the store.

Refunds -If the event is cancelled due to weather then a refund will be issued. However, there are no refunds if the Milky isn't visible due to cloud cover. This is a low light field trip with an opportunity to photograph the Milky Way. Dono cant guarantee the Milky Way will be visible. That is not one of his super powers.

Where & When - We will meet in the parking lot at Sharkey'sRestaurant. 48 hours from the event you receive additional details and a map to the location.

Here is the timeline for the sky that night.

  • The Galactic Center (Milky Way) becomes visible @ 12:49 AM
  • Sharky's Parking Lot @ 2:30 AM
  • The Galactic Center (Milky Way) visibility ends @ 5:47 AM
  • The Moon Rises @ 6:24 AM
  • The Sun Rises @ 7:07 AM

Equipment- D-SLR camera or Mirrorless System. Bring your widest angle lens like a with at least a 2.8 f/stop. You'll need a very sturdy tripod and a remote switch for your camera. Keep in mind this is depending on weather. So come prepared and bring a flash light.

Any questions call Dono (941) 896-9921 or email him atdono@jpiphoto.com.
