The Maze (Ice Cube Canyon) is Red Rock's crown jewel that offers a canyon experience similar to Zion slot canyons, while being located 25 West of Las Vegas. Its great to run on a hot day as its quite shaded, and its numerous pools keep canyoneers cooled down. It is a long day though, with 1800+ vertical feet approach hike, 20+ rappels, and many pools, significant down climbing (especially the exit) some full swims in cold water. More info here: http://www.bluugnome.com/cyn_route/red-rock_ice-cube/red-rock_ice-cube-canyon.aspx Im happy to organize this trip as Ive been through the Maze 3 times, originally back in 2003 with Chris Brennen on the first full documented descent. We have available a Group Camp site at the Red Rock Campground for Friday, Saturday and Sunday (if need be) nights, thanks to my membership with the SCMA.

*REQUIREMENTS to join this event as well as any of the other recreational events posted on this Meetup Group, are that you must have taken the Uber Adventures 3-day Technical Canyoneering Course. (Exceptions may be made for those who have taken an approved equivalent course, or for those who have SIGNIFICANT canyoneering experience. Approval for these exceptions are at the discretion of the grouporganizer, Klaus Gerhart.)

*NOTE: Since this is not a guided trip and because canyoneering is a team sport where every member should be able to rappel well, inspect anchors, build new anchors, rig for all contingencies, manage ropes efficiently and contribute in every aspect of the adventure, anyone who's profile does not reflect the appropriate training or sufficient experience will not be allowed to participate. PLEASE KEEP YOUR PROFILE ACCURATE & UP-TO-DATE! If at the trailhead for this event you do not have the beta and map for the canyon, a harness, helmet, rappel device, safety tether, foot loop for self rescue, sufficient protection from the heat or cold, and sufficient water for the intended exertion, you will be turned-away from the event for not being prepared. If you are unable or unwilling to contribute group gear (ie: bagged rope, webbing, rapides or first aid kit), or you are unable or unwilling to help carry group gear, you may be turned-away from the event.
