Stand Up Paddle Tours: The Legend of Capone Island Ghost Tour

It is great to enjoy moonlight shimmering on the water and to view our spectacular sunsets from a paddle board. But did you know that our city also has an interesting past.

Join us for this September and October as we discover the Legend of Capone Island on a unique SUP Ghost Tour. Enjoy making new friends and learn the past history of Deerfield Beach Island Park. Learn more on our blog.

Our paddle tours fill up quickly, so register in advance. The actual duration of the each tour varies based on water conditions, number of participants, and experience levels. Launch times also vary throughout the year according to the time the moon rises.

Rain is South Florida often passes quickly. It may delay us but rarely stops our tours. You may call the shop at 954-427-4929 if you are concerned about weather in your area.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. What time are the tours?
Tour times vary by season. We ask you to arrive 30 minutes prior to sunset to allow for registration and instruction. For more information please call Island Water Sports at 954-427-4929

  2. Why do I need to register online?
Our stand up paddle tours are very popular and we must limit the number of participants per event. Registration guarantees your spot in the class. Our full moon tours typically sell out way in advance.

  3. What is the cost?
The cost is $30 per person. Boards and instructors are provided. If you have you own board, paddle, and life vest, the cost is only $10.

  4. Where do we meet?
We meet at Island Water Sports, 1985 NE 2nd Street, Deerfield Beach, FL 33441. Please park in lot as you will register then carpool to launch destination.

  5. What if registration is closed online?
Registration will close when the maximum number of participants is reached.

  6. How many participants are in the tour?
There is an average of 10-30 people per tour.

  7. What skill level is needed to participate in the tour?
The tours are designed for beginners but had a moderate endurance level. However, we have designed the tour to still be fun for experienced paddleboarders. If you have never been on a paddleboard before we suggest you try our free lessons every Saturday at 7am. This will give you some basic knowledge to help make the tour more enjoyable.

  8. What should I bring with me?
Beach wear is recommend as you may get wet (bathing suite/ board shorts and for the colder days, a wet suite top). Also, bring a towel and extra t-shirt to change into is optional.

  9. What paperwork is involved?
You will need to bring a driver's license and credit card to complete a rental agreement form at the store. The credit card will only be charged if the equipment is lost, broken, stolen, etc. You will also need to complete a waiver either online or at the store.
  10. What are the coast guard rules?
All paddleboarders will need to have a life vest on board their SUP and a light. These will be provided with paddleboard rentals. Those bringing their own board may rent a life vest for $5. By coastguard law, only one person is allowed per vessel. You may not bring children on your board, not animals.
