THE PLAN:

This will be a 10 mile paddle down The Mighty Ohio River, with a lock through at the Meldahl Dam. Our starting location will be the Down by The RIVERSIDE CAMPGROUND. The ending point will be the ODNR Neville Ramp at the 10 Mile Mark. You will have the option of continuing on to the New Richmond Kayak Landing, for a total of 21 Miles. There will be opportunities to stop along the way!


OHIO RIVER MILAGE & STOPPING POINTS

Riverside Campground to Chilo Lock #34 Park Ramp 5 miles, restrooms


Chilo Lock #34 Park Ramp to Meldahl Dam Lock 2 miles,
(20-30 minutes to lock through)


Meldahl Dam Lock to ODNR Neville Ramp 2.75 miles,
porta-potty


Total Event River Miles: 9.75

For those wanting to continue on to New Richmond

Neville ORNR Ramp to Moscow Ramp 4 miles

Moscow Ramp to Riverfront Camp in Pt. Pleasant 2.25 miles, porta-potty

Riverfront Camp in Pt. Pleasant to New Richmond Kayak
Landing 5 miles

Total River Mileage = 21 miles


TRANSPORTATION
Transportation of gear and people will be provided so that you can get back to your car. There will be at least one escort boat following us.


CAMPING You may camp at Riverside Campground before the event at the low, low rate of $5 per person per day for tents, and $20 for a camper. MAKE A CALL TO DEL OR SUE AT[masked], LEAVE A MESSAGE IF NECESSARY AND THEY WILL GET BACK TO YOU.

The owners, Del & Sue Bumgardner, will be donating ALL
CAMPING FEES to The Paddling for a Cause fund! The camp has empty RV sites you can use with shelters if needed. There are fire rings and a CLEAN Bath/Shower House. We will be launching from the campground boat ramp.

THE DETAILS:

When September 16th 2017 (Rain Date Sept. 17th) @ 9am Registration starts at8am.

Where 482 U.S.52 Georgetown, Oh - (1.5 miles East of
Utopia, just inside the Brown Co. line.)

Sunrise - 6:12am

Experience - Thisisnt a race, but youre going at least 10 miles; the longer the boat, thefaster and easier it moves through the water. 10 foot boats are not advised,but there will be places to exit the river at the 3, 4, and 5 mile mark beforegetting to the dam which is at the 7 mile mark.

We all will lockthrough Meldahl Dam together. After that, everyone is free to finish the run attheir own pace, making stops as needed. There will be no effort made to keep
everyone together! You may exit the run at any of the stop points.Transportation is set up to get you & your yak back to your car.

Take Out ODNR Neville Ramp

Pre-Paddle -Everyone is responsible for their owngrub and fluids. Be sure to carb up and hydrate the day before.

What To Bring -
Yak / PFD / proper clothing / water /bug spray /LUNCH /camera. Come on, you know what you need, were adults here!

Restrooms -
Porta-Potty or Restroom at most of the stopping points.

Weather Forecast - An update will be provided two
days before.

River Forecast - Same as for the weather forecast.

Post-PaddleSustenance - Get together and gift basket raffle at the Green Kayak in NewRichmond afterwards. (Time to be announced).

Liability Waiver- As always, by joining in this event (RSVP), you are acknowledging that youhave read and agree to abide by the Tri-State Kayakers liability waiver. Youcan find this waiver on the Tri-State Kayakers web site, at: http://www.meetup.com/Tri-State-Kayakers/pages/Legal_Waiver/

If you do not agree with said liability waiver, dont show up!
