Held every Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at EPMS, Room MK5.

Registration is free (but required, so we know how many mouths to feed)!

Teen Talk events are gender-neutral group discussions for teens and pre-teens (12 to 17 years old). All discussions will be age-appropriate, and a variety of views may be shared on any given topic in this informal, open chat forum.

Youth can air concerns and ask questions of adult facilitators in a safe, accepting and nonjudgmental environment.Our staff are Youth Mental Health First Aid certified facilitators, and our volunteers include licensed family and drug and alcohol counselors.

FAQs

Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Youth as young as 12 years old (middle school age) are welcome to attend Teen Talk events. Be advised, however, that topics discussed may include more mature themes, such as depression, sexuality, abuse, violence, homelessness, mental health, self-harm and suicide. You know your child best. It is up to you to determine if they are old enough to hear or participate in these types of discussions.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The events are held at Elizabeth Pinkerton Middle School,which has ample parking in the South parking lot.

What can my youth bring into the event?

All your youth needs to bring is an appetite and a willingness to participate!

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

What's the refund policy?

There are no refunds. Why would we need them? These events are free.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No. We will have a list of the registered attendees for each event. All we need is for each youth to check in when they arrive. Student IDs are helpful but not required.

Is my registration or ticket transferrable?

No.

Is it ok if the name on my registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Yes, as long as the parent explains the reason in advance or upon arrival.


Are Teen Talks for boys or girls? What about LGBTQ youth?

Teen Talk events are open to all youth, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, faith, nationality or citizenship status.


What topics are discussed at a Teen Talk event?

All of the discussions are age-appropriate and open to all genders. A variety of views may be shared in the informal, open chat forum. Consequently, youth will have an opportunity to air their concerns and ask questions of adult facilitators in a safe, accepting and nonjudgmental environment.

Teen Talk facilitators are open to discussing anything the youth participants bring up. In addition, topics can range from light to serious. Topics that may be discussed include sports, school, social media, friendship, depression, sexuality, dating, abuse, violence, homelessness, social injustice, mental health and wellness, self-harm and suicide.


Are Teen Talk events group counseling?

No.Nothing discussed by one of our staff or volunteers is intended to be a substitute for professional psychological, psychiatric or medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment of a mental or physical health problem, or for prescribing medication. Always seek the advice of your physician or another qualified mental health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition or mental disorder. Although some staff and/or volunteers have received training as counselors/therapists or Youth Mental Health First Aid, any information provided for informational and educational purposes only. Are things my child discusses private? Will I be told if my child says ____?

Participants (including both youth and their parents) have no right to the expectation of privacy during any conversation with Face2Face staff or volunteers during Face2Face events (there is no "counselor confidentiality" privilege). Face2Face staff and/or volunteers will make appropriate referrals to parents for professional services if, based on observations and/or statements from participants, deemed prudent. Further, it is the policy of Face2Face that abuse or neglect reported to or suspected by Face2Face staff and/or volunteers will be reported.Please review our fulldisclaimerhere.
