Welcome to our Meetup page for Shepherd Sports MTB Club! We have rides scheduled every weekend unless otherwise noted. Visit our Shepherd Sports website here: Shepherd Sports Mountain Biking Home (http://www.shepherdsports.org/clubs/mountain-biking-1)

All riders on Shepherd Cycling rides are asked to complete a waiver for the church. If you haven't yet completed a waiver, you can click this link: 2017 Shepherd Church MTB Club Waiver (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwXMtG-lxdvJcHpVVE4xVzc4Y0lhVjFfbXRnRjRPbDUxZkN3/view?usp=sharing). Bring your signed waiver form with you to the ride or one will be provided for you to sign before the ride.

Ride Description:

Level: Advanced Beginner, Intermediate

Ride Duration: About 1:15 hours moving time / Total ride time approximately 2.0 hours with breaks

Miles/Roundtrip: 10.4 miles (actual miles will vary with new route.)

Bathrooms at Trail: Yes - at Sports Complex

This Ride is generally considered an advanced beginner ride, but if you stick to the fireroad up and back, it's fine for new beginners.

This ride starts out of the LA County Sports Complex Parking lot with a bit of pavement but then a long steady climb up the Tapia Canyon fireroad, stopping at the top under the power line towers. From here we'll drop into the super fun Kona singletrack for 3 miles of smooth, twisty goodness, until it lets back out in Tapia Canyon.

Please be sure to park and meet at the sport complex parking lot, not at the aquatic center, which is one block north.

Here is a Strava Map of the trial (actual route may vary): Strava Link to Tapia Canyon ride (http://www.strava.com/activities/112327569)

Level: Advanced ride

Ride Duration: 2:30 moving, 3:30 usual with stops

Miles/ Roundtrip 23.8 (three trips to the top)

IMPORTANT: Although some posted rides are considered intermediate to advanced level a strong beginner-level rider should be able to make it. As always, all riders should be aware that mountain biking can be extremely physically demanding. Each rider should be conscious of their own limitations. It is encouraged to walk any sections of the trail you are not comfortable riding. Dont be surprised if you are not able to keep up with the group your first time out. Dont get discouraged. It will take some newcomers a few rides before they can build up their leg strength, cardio and overall technique before feeling at home on a mountain bike trail. be encouraged We will have volunteers that will help you along the way and stay with you at your pace.
