There are many benefits to meditating that I won't go into but one thing that I've found is that meditation is better with other people. It is a serene and fantastic way to start off the day. I'm combining two or three things that I find very good for my soul; meditation and paddling and maybe even snorkeling. We will meditate until just after the sun rises and then we will paddle and snorkel on the ocean if the ocean permits. Meditation will take place even if it's too choppy to paddle on the ocean. We can always paddle on the Intracoastal side of the park if it's too choppy on the ocean.

Our meditation will be pretty informal; the only thing we will be doing is sitting (laying down is fine too) on the beach facing the rising sun. Beginning meditation, as I was taught, focuses on the breath. So that's what we will do; simply sit silently and comfortably on the beach; paying attention to our breathe and letting thoughts go without obsessing about them as we usually do in our everyday lives. Bring a towel to sit on.

If the ocean allows; we'll paddle out on the ocean for an hour or so. This is the best time of day to paddle on the ocean. The water is usually the most calm at this time of day. You are more likely to see dolphins early in the day as well. If there are waves and they are small; it's a great time to try paddlesurfing if you haven't tried it before. We'll do what the group wants to do as a whole. At this location, we can also snorkel so if you want to bring your snorkeling gear in a net bag so you can put it on your board; feel free.

There's no charge for meditation but any donations towards meetup costs are always appreciated. Those new to meditation are very welcome. Bring your paddleboard if you have one. If not, it will be $20 to rent a board including paddle and life vest. The paddling part of this meetup is not for beginner paddlers so if you haven't paddled before please check our Fabulous First Timer events to learn how to paddle safely with good form.

How to dress for meditation; dress comfortably and bring a jacket, maybe one more layer depending on the day and you will be quite comfortable on the beach.

See you at the beach and on the water :)

How to find us:Let's meet near the crosswalk in the parking area on the west side of A1A INSIDE the park. Look for my large white van. I would like to try meditating on the north side of the inlet where it's quieter.
