What we'll do
If you've never been to Sunol Regional Park in the East Bay Hills . . . now's your chance. In shear size, this urban wilderness one of the largest in the state. It's still used for cattle grazing so we may see some of them as well as the occasional paw print from the region's mountain lions. This is my home park, it's where I grew up hiking as a kid in the East Bay. If we're lucky in our timing, the spring wild flowers will be at their peak and it will be stunning.

This hike will be about 9.1 miles with about 1600' in total elevation gain through the park and along a portion From the south overflow parking lot well walk the fire road to Little Yosemite. From there we'll continue on Camp Ohlone road a bit and turn left up Backpack Road to McCorkle Trail which will take us along the ridges over to Eagle View and Vista Grande. Finally we'll descend down Cave Rocks and back to the parking lot.

Schedule:
7am Meet at 11th and P, Sacramento
9am Meet at the south parking lot at the park

Carpooling is strongly suggested as the parking can be scarce. Please contribute to your driver accordingly which should be around $12 per person for gas and time plus contributing to the $5 entrance fee per car and $5 toward bridge fare on 680.

See you day of the hike!
