Come join other park stewards at Grape Island to enhance native ecosystems and natural processes by studying and influencing changes in park plant biodiversity. We will explore the local flora and fauna and discuss the ecology, natural history, and cultural significance of landscapes in the park as we work side by side to improve habitat for the native birds, bugs, trees, and flowers of the Boston Harbor Islands.

Directions: This Stewardship program will depart from Long Wharf in Boston via MBTA ferry. The dock is located at 1 Long Wharf, across the street from Legal Seafoods and the main entrance to the Mariott hotel. Click here to open directions to Long Wharf. We will be taking the MBTA ferry to Hewitts Cove in Hingham, where we will transfer to a boat provided by the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) out to the island. Volunteers that are signing up should feel free to meet us in Hingham if it is more convenient than coming into Boston. Click here to open directions to the Hingham Shipyard.

What to wear: Long-sleeved shirts, long pants, socks, and closed-toe shoes. Conditions can be unpredictable so please monitor the weather in the days leading up the event and dress appropriately.

What to bring: Please bring a lunch and reusable water bottle. Sunscreen and a hat are always recommended. Tools will be provided.

Event will run rain or shine, however, may be cancelled due to severe weather.
