Staunton River Trailis a peaceful (but steep), stream-side route that leads up to the beautiful overlook at Bear Church Rock. From there well continue onward to Laurel Prong Trail and eventually to a hidden historic gem: Camp Rapidan.

Camp Rapidan was President Hoovers getaway during his time in office, before Camp David was built. The buildings and surrounds have been carefully restored by the Park Service, and with any luck well be able to talk a Park Service volunteer into giving us a brief tour.

**This is a very strenuous hike that is suited for experienced hikers who are comfortable with similar distances and elevation gains. If I have not been on an A or A+ hike with you before please message me so that we can determine if this is the right one for you. Those who have not contacted me will be removed from the RSVP list two days prior to the hike.**
