See the photo above? It was taken in June 2017. Thanks to a little follow-up work, the ligustrums are dead and have been chipped into mulch that is protecting the root system of a nearby live oak. Now it's time to restore the grove that was here before the ligustrums took over.
About 20 members of the Austin Rotary Club will join us to plant a mixture of native shade trees and understory plants in this patch of woodsabout 100 saplings plus a variety of other plants and shrubs.
If we have enough volunteers, we might send a second group out to plant some of these various wildflowers, shrubs, and saplings along the Northern Walnut Creek Trail.
Bring water to drink and dress for the weather. We will go ahead and plant unless it is pouring or thundering. Light rain would increase the chance that the plants will thrive.
