This Savvy Birth Pro Workshop for the Southern IL/St. Louis metro area is taught by Shannon Lawton-O'Boyle, BA, LAMAZE Certified Childbirth Educator, Experienced Doula, and Evidence Based Birth Instructor.

Contact hours: By attending the workshop and completing an online evaluation, you will earn a certificate for 3 contact hours from Evidence Based Birth, a continuing education provider for the Kentucky Board of Nursing# 7-0081. Nursing contact hours can be applied to most childbirth educator and doula certifications (including DONA and CAPPA), as well as the Certified Professional Midwife credential and the Midwifery Bridge Certificate.


Learning Objectives:

  1. Define evidence-based care and discuss the difference between evidence-based care and routine care
  2. Discuss the safety of local birth setting options
  3. Demonstrate how birthing persons can talk with their providers about research evidence
  4. Discuss how partners, doulas, and nurses can work together to provide labor support
  5. Describe the benefits and limitations of birth plans
  6. Discuss the human and legal rights of birthing persons

- Basic ticket that includes admission to the workshop. (There are no CEUs/contact hours included in this ticket.)

Refund policy: Tickets are non-refundable, but may be transferred another person in the case of an unforeseen professional commitment (birth of a client), illness, or family emergency. It is the ticket holder's responsibility to contact Shannon in the event you are transferring your ticket. Unused admission can be exchanged for a future Evidence Based Birth workshop and all merchandise reserved from the purchase of a Pro or ProPlus ticket will be received regardless of attendance. CEUs/contact hours can be arranged to be made up online or in a future workshop.
