RoseMary Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star is a charitable organization that has served the Houston community since 1974. Our organization strives to make an impact in the community by providing assistance to those that are in need and iswholeheartedlydedicated to charity and loving kindness. Most of ourcharitable giving aims to alleviate the distress and discomfort of the less fortunate by providingthem with general necessities at no cost.

Our focus over the last few yearshas been on children with Junior Diabetes so we have established a partnership with theJunior Diabetes Research Foundation.

Children with Type 1 diabetes must pay careful attention to diet and exercise, so in addition to makinga financial contribution to the organization, we are also hosting our 3rd health and fitness awareness campthis summer. This day camp will provide structured, fun activities designed to keep children physicallyactive and teach them valuable lessons on diet and exercise. The camp will betuition-free, giving childrenwho would not typically be able to afford camp, the opportunity to experience camp life!

Typical services we extend to the community include donating box fans and air conditioningunits to those that do not have central air, donating school supplies and uniforms to students, supplying turkeys and Thanksgiving dinner bags to families in need, supplying Christmas gifts andsponsoring toy drives to help needy children enjoy the Christmas season.

We are anxiously preparing for our third Home Makeover, where were able to bless a family by remodeling and furnishing their home.

School Supply & Uniform Drive:

RoseMary Grand Chapter will host our annual school supply and uniform drive this year on the same day as our walk August 12, 2017.

We typically provide hundreds of students with complete school supply packages, uniforms, and backpacks for their return to school. This year we will expand our service project to include free lunch kits, uniforms, shoes, hygienekits and professional hair care services by licensed stylist and barbers.

Myrtle V. Hunter Scholarship:

Each year we award two scholarships to graduating high school seniors who have demonstrateda commitment to scholastic excellence during their high school years. In addition to thescholarship, we hope to expand this to also providing a college dorm packetto include a television, mini-fridge,DVDplayer,sheets, comforter, etc. to assist deservingstudents with their transition to college life.
