This is a casual ascent of Ralston Peak, elev. 9,235, involving a back-pack and overnight stay into Tamarack Lake following the south shoresof the Echo Lakes. Next morning we ascend an east facing buttress to Ralston's North Ridge then follow that south to the summit. An alternate lower angle route slightly further north is also available depending on snowpack conditions. After summiting we'll reverse the line, break camp, and head out.
Needless to say, weather permitting, the summit views are outstanding. This is a good trip for those with limited winter camping experience. Thetrek into campis apprx. 4 miles and 400' gain whilethe summit route gains 1,400' in 1.5 miles. Snowshoes are great, but whatever works for you.Abasic winter gear list is available for the asking and extra gear (tents, bags, winter clothing etc.) is alsoavailable for those short of anywinter items. How to find us:PArking lot in front of Beer NV.
