Please read all of this trip description.

We will be rafting the South Fork on Saturday. At this time, we only have one raft. We are hoping to have a second raft. If we find a second guide, we will increase the number of people who can sign up.

Sign up for the trips you can go on. Go on the trips you sign up for.

Our raft trips are non-profit trips by SoA. In order to reserve a spot for this trip we must receive your $20 trip fee which covers three parking areas. When you sign up for the trip, you will be on the waiting list. Once I have received your payment by PayPal, I will move you to the reserved list. No refunds will be given for any cancellations unless the entire trip is cancelled. If you sign up, you are expected to be there. NO FLAKING or you will never go on another raft trip with us and may be removed from the group.

Join us for a day of whitewater rafting on the South Fork of the American River. This rafting trip is a great one for beginners and experienced paddlers. We supply the rafts, paddles, life jackets, water bottles and lunch. We don't want you to bring anything onto the raft for safety reasons. You can bring a waterproof camera, hat, sunglasses and sun screen. For this trip, everyone will supply their own lunch. We will put the lunches in one car that we leave at the lunch spot.

The flow of the river on the South Fork is controlled by a dam upstream and raftable flows are released for a few hours each weekend day. We must be on the river early enough to ride the flows down.

GUESTS: NO GUESTS WILL BE ON THIS TRIP. It is free to join Spirit of Adventure. If you have a guest who would like to attend this trip, have them join the group. One reason for this is so that everyone will sign the legal release form.

This is a beginners whitewater raft trip. The most difficult rapids are rated 3+ out of 6. This is one of the best beginner and intermediate runs in California.

Patrick will be guiding the raft.

NOTE: No alcoholic beverages are allowed on the river, at lunch or in the morning prior. Paddlers must be sober and alcohol free to participate in this trip.

Where are we going? We will paddle from Chilli Bar to Salmon Falls Bridge, a distance of 20.5 miles.

If you RSVP, you must be certain that you will be attending this trip. No last minute flaking out as it will negatively affect everyone else on the trip.

We will use everyone's cars to set up the shuttle. We will place a vehicle at the take out spot (Salmon Falls Bridge) and park another car at the put in (Chilli Bar). It takes an hour to drive from the take out to the put in. The dam just upstream releases water for rafting from 7 am to noon.

Important things to bring:

We will provide you with a water bottle to put near your feet in the floor of the raft. There is a slight chance that this bottle could get lost. You need to bring shoes that can get wet and walk around on rocks. You will need to bring sunscreen and a hat. You also should have sunglasses and some sort or string or restraint for them. We have club helmets. Also, feel free to use your own helmet. It is required that you use one of our life jackets which are specially designed for rafting.

A paddle and life jacket will also be provided. Paddles have a replacement cost of $58, so hold on to them even if you fall out of the raft.

Be On Time! We must get into the river in a certain interval. They release water from the dam upstream for only a few hours. They turn the dam off at noon.

We generally get off the river between 5 and 6 pm, but depending on the size of the cars on the trip, we may have another hour to retrieve the cars from the lunch and put in.

It would be great if someone has a large vehicle to leave at the take out. A van or truck works well. Such a vehicle will save us an hour after the trip.

Map below: Note that you must leave around 4:30 am to reach the meeting spot by 7:00 am from Santa Rosa. Link to map: https://goo.gl/maps/WuY5S

How to find us:Meet in front of the Raley's, in the parking lot near the middle.
