This hike is 10.6 miles round trip with 3350 feet of elevation gain. This is an up-an-back trail hike so if you would like to do a shorter version of the hike then you can. At the summit we also plan to go down and visit the Harley Mine.

Hike with us on the Cannell Trail to the summit of Powers Peak! A great description of this hike is on Page 88 (T39) of Exploring the Southern Sierra: East Side. We are meeting at the Sierra Gateway in Kernville at 8:30am. We will drive 5 minutes or so to the Cannell Trailhead where we will begin our hike.

In the news! The walkie-talkies worked great on the Red Mountain hike and we were able to maintain communication the whole time. We will be moving to channel 6.3. Thanks again to Deborah E. for donating a SPOT to the club. Thank you also to the generous hikers on the Red Mountain Hike for donating the funds to get it activated. After paying the activation fee our new club balance is $85.59 which will be used towards the purchase of more business cards and the Meetup site dues. Our SPOT is activated and ready for the Powers Peak hike.

We need more hiking suggestions please. Right now we Powers Peak and Jenkins Peak on our list of hiking suggestions.
