***This month's Plein Air location is TBD. Students will meet first at the LEC.***

Learn how to sketch and paint in watercolor by joining instructor Gaston McKenzie at a variety of exciting locations throughout Tampa!

"Plein Air" is painting outdoors, or with a strong sense of the open air, that became a central feature of French impressionism.

Students will meet at the Life Enrichment Center at 10am where Gaston will spend a brief amount of time discussing technique. Then the group will relocate to an area in Tampa for the "Plein Air" portion of the class. On rainy days the class will paint under a covered location that allows for pen and ink watercolor painting.

Whether youre a beginner or a seasoned painter who would like good company and encouragement in your watercolor painting, youll benefit from quick sketching and painting outside while capturing the essence of Tampas natural and urban environments.

Gaston McKenzie is a well-traveled Plein Air watercolorist painter who uses pen and ink sketching on his paintings to give expressive clarity to his work and to capture scenes from around the world. He is passionate about painting outside on location to express everyday life in our beautiful city.

This class is made possible by a generous grant from Hillsborough County.
