We will be traveling south on 101 past San Jose till we get to the town of Gilroy. After Gilroy we go another couple of miles and go South-East on Hwy 25. about 15 miles in we will get to Hollister and then travel another 32 miles where will we go west on Hwy 46 into the park. The hikes have to start early because it gets warm even in November and the parking lot can fill up quickly.
Let's try something different. The weather in November is nice and cool and a perfect time for a road trip! Saturday's hike will be Chalone Peak which is 9 miles out and back so 9 miles total distance with an elevation gain of 2400 feet. We will be treated to gorgeous views of the Pinnacles themselves.
After the hike we can do another 3 or 4 mile hike or just hang out.
There is camping in the park to reserve a site call[masked] or you can go in style and stay at the Best Western in Hollister to do that call Address: 660 San Felipe Rd, Hollister, CA 95023
Phone: (831)[masked]. It gets cold at night at the Pinnacles due to it being a high dessert climate so I suggest a hotel.
As an organizer I will lead road trips but not make camping or hotel reservations for other people in advance. Please be responsible for your own lodging or just drive out for the day for a hike. There will be another hike on Sunday at the Pinnacles and one at Henry Coe state park on Monday, Veterans day.
