What we'll do
The nice folks at the Silent Electric Flyers Club of San Diego have worked with Gary Buzel to open up their club to photographers from "Best Places" to shoot their radio controlled model aircraft in flight and on the ground. They also will be having a pop wing air race for us to shoot as well. This club is one of the largest all electric radio controlled aircraft clubs in the country. Club members will be showing off stunt planes, warbirds, aerobatic aircraft, and helicopters for us to photograph. We'll be granted access close to the runway for the best possible angle for action shots. A briefing on club rules and shooting guidelines will be done before the shoot. When? Saturday April 14th, 2018 at 8am
Where? Silent Electric Flyers of San Diego, 812 Sea World Drive, park in dirt lot. Please drive slow when entering to keep the dust down for the pilots flying nearby. Come out for this fun day shooting a fast moving interesting subject! The club asks we share our pictures for free with them as exchange for their invite and hospitality. This is a great photo event to get you out of the "landscape zone." Hope to see you there! Gary
What to bring
Water, sunscreen, hat, camera with[masked],[masked] or other telephoto lens. a 24-70 works great for the static ground shots.
Important to know
When you arrive, please check in with Gary Buzel for a briefing on how to walk around the active runway to shoot. If any photographers walk on the runway and interfere with flight operations, you will be asked to leave.
