Pawlings next generation of athletes will get their chance to swim, bike, and run their way along a modified, shorter-distance course on a closed route within Lakeside Park.
Under 10 course: Swim 75 yards, Bike 1 mile, Run mile
10 and over course: Swim 125 yards, Bike 2 miles, Run 1 mile

Each youth participant will receive a performance hat and a participation medal.

THIS WILL BE A TIMED EVENT AND PARTICIPANTS MUST FOLLOW ALL COURSE & CHIP INSTRUCTIONS.

Pawling continues the tradition of triathlon spirit in its 33rd consecutive year. Offering both scenic views and a vibrant community charm, this is a race to add to any summer circuit for both a beginner and seasoned triathlete.
Course:Swim 0.3 miles, Bike 12 miles, Run 3 miles

NEW "SLIDE" WAVE OPTIONis available! Instead of doing the full .3 mile swim, you canjust swim to and headdown our giant inflatable slide as your water option! This NEW raceoptionwill happen as a separate wave on race day! Great for an athlete who wants to have a little more fun and do something funky with the course,making this an unforgettable race! - THIS OPTION IS TIMED DIFFERENTLY - WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE TRADITIONAL TRIATHLON AGE GROUP AWARDS. BUT, IF YOU DON'T CARE AND JUST WANT TO HAVE A GREAT TIME, THIS IS TOTALLY FOR YOU!

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

PACKET PICK UP - Friday, July 10th - Lakeside Park, Pawling
4:00 7:00 pm.

RACE DAY-Saturday, Lakeside Park, Pawling
6:00 - 7:30 a.m. - Check-in. NO Numbers issued or race packets saved after 7:30am

Race-day registrants must check in between 6am-7am. NO RACE DAY SIGN UP AFTER 7AM.
7:45 a.m. - Course orientation, final race instructions

7am-730 WATER WARM UP time available. During this half hour ONLY, participants may sample the temperature of the water or take turns swimming a few laps in the LANE LINE SECTION ONLY, as available. The Lane line section is the section to the LEFT of the long, main dock. Lane line area will be available ONLY DURING 7:00-7:30. There is no water entry allowed at any other time.
8:00 a.m. - Race Start (rain or shine).
10:00 a.m. - Course closes, Awards presentation.

Event details

Electronic Timing Guidelines:
You must pick up your timing chip on the morning of the event. Only competitors wearing the chip attached to their ankle will have split times and final times recorded.


TRANSITION AREA:All competitors must beout of the transition area BEFORE the start of the first wave of swimmers!

Please request family members and friends not to accompany you in the transition area.Bicycles must be placed on assigned bike racks.Bikes placed on wrong racks will be removed from the race.
NO cycling in or out of the transition area.

SWIM :The swim will be in waves of around 20-30 competitors, at 3 minute intervals. The waves are based onyour expected pace and/or age group. You are allowed to start back in a wave at your discretion, but moving upwards in a wave is not allowed.

-Competitors must wear the official swim cap provided at check-in.
- Competitors will have theirleft shoulderandleft calfmarked with their bib number.
- You must notify a race officialIMMEDIATELYandturn in your timing chipif you do not complete the swim.
- Wet suits are allowed.

BIKE:The bike course of 12 milesis outand back on the same roads. Make a sharp left turn on to W. Dover Road after leaving park. Continue on W. Dover road for 5.5 miles until Hoags Corner Road.SLOW downand make aU-turn around the traffic conesand head back the same way to the park.SLOW Downand make aSHARP right hand turnwhen returning to Park and stay to theExtreme RIGHT(to avoid bikes just leaving park).
-While biking, you must stay to theRightof the road at all times so as to allow free flow of traffic(cars and bicycles).
- It is your responsibility to know and stay on the course at all times.
- Each contestant is individually responsible for repair and maintenance of their bike.
- Contestants must follow instructions of race officials and public authorities and must obey all traffic laws.

DRAFTING RULES:You must maintain a distance ofthreebike lengths from the bike in front of you. You may not be closer than this distance for any period exceeding 15 seconds. Took out infraction point into.

Pack Riding/Drafting is a Serious Violation of the Rules of the Pawling Triathlon.You canfile an official complaint regarding "drafters" by noting theirrace number(s). A competitor who has three "drafting reports" filed against him/her will automatically receive a two minute penalty for each infraction. TOOK OUT extra infraction info

HELMETS:A bicycling helmet must be positively secured with chin strap before leaving the transition area and it must remain buckled/secured until you dismount your bike. Riding without a helmet will result in immediate disqualification. Helmets must be ANSI, USCFor SNELL approved.

RUN:The run course of 3 miles is one loop around the Village of Pawling. The roads throughout the run and bike course will be OPEN to the normal flow of traffic. You must obey traffic rules at ALL times. While on the run course you MUST run WITH the direction of traffic andstay on theRIGHTshoulder of the road atALLtimes.Took out infraction stuff

You must wear the run number on your front, and be clearly visible to race officials at ALL times. Folding of race numbers is prohibited.

ALL ROUTES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE BEFORE OR ON RACE DAY.

POST-RACE:Award winners must be present at the post-race awards ceremony to claim their awards. Awards or medals will not be mailed.
