We are at it again - one of our best events of the year!

This year we are scheduling three sunrise hikes. The goal is to provide additional opportunities for people to join us while reducing the number of hikers impacting the trail all at once.

Hike in a glance: this is 9+ mile hike, in the dark, along the trail head on paved road, a wooded trail, and on ridge-line towards the summit. This trail providesexperience on advancing elevation, changes in terrain, and rock scrambling.

As an added bonus we hope to get a glimpse of the Perseid's Meteor Shower. This is one of the best meteor showers to observe, producing up to 60 bright meteors per hour at its peak. The shower runs annually from July 17th to August 24th. It peaks this year on the night of August 12th and the morning of August 13th. Keep your fingers crossed!

River Rock Outfitter will be supplying coffee at the top of the Old Rag Summit! Just bring your mug, a snack (breakfast) and watch the sunrise on top of Old Rag!

*Do not forget to bring plenty of water and a headlamp!

Payment is $10.00. If you know where the Old Rag Parking lot is, we should be arriving around 2:30 AM. Parking here is limited so carpooling is suggested. If you have a Shenandoah pass, bring it along as parking is $20.00. Please consider donating a few dollars to our car pooling volunteers to cover parking and gas expenses.

Keep in mind: This is a technical hike with increased elevation and rock scrambling. We suggest hiking this trail during the day prior to attempting the Sunrise Sip. Our experienced AmericanHiking Guide Association Guide and Wilderness First-Aid certified hikers on the trail, but it may take rescue personnel an hour or more before they reach us in an emergency situation. This is not a pet or stroller friendly trail.

Spacing is limited. You MUST call River Rock Outfitter at (540)[masked] to pay and reserve your spot.

How to find us:We will meet at River Rock Outfitter at 12:45 AM
