Join your hiking pals for a moderate-paced hike to the Observation Tower at Frozen Head State Park, a scenic 2.5+ hour drive east of Nashville.
Distance: 9.5 miles--Moderate to Strenuous for distance and elevation.
Pace will be as fast as the slowest hiker.

1st Meetup: Home Depot I-40 East Exit 236 at 955 S. Hartman Drive Lebanon, TN Depart 6:30am Central Sharp
2nd Meetup/Regroup: Hardees/Citgo at exit 300 Monterey approx. 7:40am.

Beginning at the trail-head parking lot(elevation of 1340ft) at 9:15am Central we'll take Spicewood Trail, 2.5 miles, the Chimney Top trail for 1.1 mile then 1/2 mile on the steep gravel Tower trail for lunch at the Observation Tower at 3374 ft elevation.
There's a 360 degree view of the mountains and surrounding area. Bring your camera!
We will head back down on the Lookout Tower Trail 3/4 mile to the North Old Mac trail 3.6 miles to the parking lot.

Please offer your carpool driver $10 to $15 cash money for gas, vehicle usage, and driving services.
Please be willing to volunteer your vehicle and/or drive. No dogs or young children please.

Directions: I-40 East to exit 300 Monterey. Turn left under freeway to second traffic light just past the RR tracks.
Right on TN-62 thru Monterey, Clark Range, Lancing and Wartburg, turning left onto Flat Fork Rd. Continue 4miles past the prison to the trailhead just past the Visitors Center and the one lane bridge.
Note: Map programs will direct you on a 20 mile longer trip--follow the directions above.
Note: All times listed are Central; park is in Eastern time zone.

Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing. The weather may change swiftly. Bring water, lunch, snacks. Optional change of clothes and/or shoes afterwards.
