We will begin at Tahquamenon Falls on Thursday evening meeting at the brewery for dinner at 4:00 PM then using our headlamps to snowshoe or cross country ski to the lower falls. On Friday we will go to Stokley Creek, Canada to cross country ski or snowshoe. Saturday we cross country ski/snowshoe Whitefish Point in the morning and in the afternoon do a guided snowshoe at 2:00 PM to the upper falls plus cross country ski the trails close by on our own, then do the lantern lit trail to the upper falls anytime from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. There is free use of park snowshoes on Saturday if you don't have any. On Sunday and Monday, as well as varying the itinerary any other day, break into snowshoe, hiking, cross country skiing, and downhill skiing groups to explore nearby driving options of Whitefish Point, Eben Ice Caves, Searchmont Ski Resort, Marquette Mountain Ski Resort, and cross country pathways in Newberry, Sault Ste. Marie, and/or Canada within an hour of the bridge. Bring ice cleats or crampons plus any other equipment you have such as skiis, snowshoes, headlamp & extra batteries, layers, small pack to carry water/snack, hand/toe warmers (also can keep water from freezing), etc. as conditions such as deep snow, ice, severe cold, or ideal weather will dictate which activities will be possible on which days. Myself and 7 others will be staying at a rustic lodge at Tahquamenon Falls State Park, but has a kitchen and 1.5 bathrooms, at $64.25 for four nights and the other 8 sign ups will stay at an apartment with TV at Tahquamenon Suites Lodging, Paradise for $131.97 for four nights if there are 8 sharing the cost. If not enough sign up to justify the apartment I will help you team up with others to reserve nearby motel rooms in Paradise, or you are welcome to winter camp in the park. Please enroll on this site, BUT YOU WILL NOT BE GUARANTEED A PLACE TO STAY UNTIL I RECEIVE YOUR FULL PAYMENT IN PERSON OR BY MAIL. After I receive payment for the lodging we will coordinate carpooling and who brings what for meals at the lodge and apartment via a conference call. Some websites to check out possibilities are:
