Let's explore the beauty of North Cascades in the autumn. This week, we plan to hike up to one of my favorites: Hidden Lake Lookout You should join this hike only if you are flexible with changing plans and if you do not have any other commitment in the evening.

Note: The hike will be canceled or an alternate destination chosen if the weather forecast calls for 75+ deg, with a week'snotice.

Total Length: 9 miles

Elevation change: 3600'

Difficulty: Moderate to Strenuous

Pace: Social (~1.5 miles/hour uphill, 2.5 miles/hour downhill), group stays together

From Marblemount on Hwy 20, drive the Cascade River Road just short of 10 miles to the junction with FS 1540. The road will be signed for the Hidden Lake Trail. Drive the steep, rutted, rocky road 4.5 miles to the road end and trailhead.

Tentative Itinerary

06:30am - Ash Way P&R

09:30am - Start hiking

12:30pm - Allocate an hour for Lunch at the Lookout

03:30pm - Back to Trailhead

04:30pm - Mandatory Stop forICE CREAM

06:30pm - Ash Way P&R

Important:

1. You and you alone are completely responsible for your safety.

2. Northwest Forest Pass is required (one per car).

3. NO dogs on this hike please.

4. Wear sturdy boots, have layers of clothing, poles (optional), bring plenty of water, snack, packed lunch, and anything else of 10 essentials.

5. Please bring $15 for your driver and a bag for your muddy boots if you plan on being a rider.

6. Update your RSVP in advance if your plans change. Two no-shows and/or late cancellation and you won't be able to participate in my future events.

7. Finally, please answer the question about carpool and add yourself to the waiting list. I will move you to the main list once we have sufficient number of drivers with reliable, clean cars. Thank you. The forest trail limit is12 people per group. The organizer may choose to have a smaller group.
