Starting Point- Old Rag Parking Area

Ending Point - Old Rag Parking Area

Elevation - 1200 feet

Distance and Rating- 8 miles/Moderate

Highlights- Nicholson Hollow, Hannah Run, Brokenback Hollow, Hughes River, Corbin Cabin

Hike Details- We will meet and carpool from the North Research Park area to the Old Rag Parking Area. While the crowds will be heading for Old Rag, we will be leaving the crowds behind, and we will hike up the Nicholson Hollow Trail to Corbin Cabin. We will have multiple stream crossings. There will be several possible swimming holes along the way. We will have lunch at Corbin Cabin. After lunch, we will retrace the trail back to the cars at the Old Rag Parking Area. During, this hike, we can make as many stops as needed to enjoy the Hughes River. When I have done this hike in the past, I have not encountered too many people on the Nicholson Hollow Trail. We can take our time, and really enjoy the whole day.

This hike is going to be capped at 14 hikers. I do expect this hike to fill up quickly.

As is tradition with my hikes, we will be going to a local restaurant/brewery after the hike to socialize some more.

What to Bring - Broken in hiking boots, trekking poles, water shoes (in case the stream crossings are high), a change of clothes (if swimming), a towel, 2 to 3 liters of water, snacks/lunch, a Shenandoah National Park Pass, $5 for your driver if not driving.
