For 15 years the United Arts Council of Collier County (UAC) and the Friends of Rookery Bay (FORB) have been bringing stunning exhibitions to the Collier County Community. In 2006 the SFWL Painting Annual was established and has been an exciting and engaging juried exhibit ever since. This exhibit showcases work by local favorites as well as local up-and-comers!

2019 Painting Annual Juror: Dr. Georgia Strange

Dr. Georgia Strange earned an Ed.D. from the University of Georgia's Institute of Higher Education. She also earned an A.B. in Biological Sciences, an M.S. in Secondary Science Education, and an M.F.A. in Fine Arts from Indiana University. She served in administrative posts at University of Georgia, Indiana University and Centre College of Kentucky. In addition, Dr. Strange served on the faculty at The Ohio State University. Currently, she is an adjunct faculty member at Florida Gulf Coast University.
Dr. Strange's teaching and service awards include the James P. Holland Award for Exemplary Teaching and Service to Students and the Herman Frederic Lieber Memorial Award in Recognition of Distinguished Teaching at Indiana University. At the University of Georgia Dr. Strange was a Senior Teaching Fellow and inducted into the University of Georgia's Teaching Academy. She was also awarded the Dodd Service Award from the Lamar Dodd School of Art.
Service in the Peace Corps in Liberia, West Africa, work on an archaeological excavation in Greece, study in Italy, and research travel in China continue to be important influences in her creative practice. Dr. Strange was awarded an Indiana Arts Commission Masters Fellowship and several competitive research grants at research universities where she taught. In addition to many venues across the country, her sculptural work has been exhibited at SOHO20 Gallery in New York since 1990.
Dr. Strange served on the Board of Directors of the College Art Association and the National Council of Arts Administrators.
