Baldy. Take it all the way until the road curves left before arriving to the Ice House Canyon parking lot. Turn left at this curve and take the winding road about 2 1/2 miles to the Manker Flats gravel parking area along the road. From the east, take the 210 West and exit on Mountain Avenue. Go north, right on Mountain. It will veer around and curve to the left. At Mt. Baldy Rd. make a right. The directions are now the same as coming from the West.
We will meet at the trail head at 6:45 a.m. for introductions and instructions. The lift ticket is $12.00 for the one way down. There is a port o potty at the trail head, the Ski Hut, the ski lift parking area and a bathroom with flush toilets at The Notch.
We will ascend to the Mt. Baldy summit via the Ski Hut Trail. We will spend some time at the summit to have snacks, take in the views and take pictures. Hey, we will have earned it! We will descend via the Devil's Backbone Trail and then take the ski lift down. From the ski lift parking area we will hike down about 1/4 mile back to our cars.
