Visit the only National Park in South Carolina with a focus on big old growth trees. This will be a level hike through a unique and recognized habitat. We will see the national champion loblolly pine, a former national champion overcup oak, and some really nice big specimen trees of cherrybark oak, swamp chestnut oak, and others. Be prepared for a full day with water, lunch and good hiking boots. We will hike approximately 5 miles and it could be muddy in places. Congaree NP expert, biologist John Cely will join us for the hike.
