Aug 12 6:00AM - 7:00AM

On Saturday morning we will meet at Starbucks at the Highway 58 and Weedpatch highway junction at 6:00 am and carpool to Onion Valley, west of Independence, CA along Highway 395. We will be at the trailhead by 9:30 a.m. I predict and hope to leave the trailhead around 9:45. Once everyone arrives we will hike to Kearsarge Pass which is an 11 mile round trip hike with an elevation gain of 2,600 feet. Kearsarge Pass rests at an elevation of 11,800 feet. The views from Kearsarge Pass are spectacular. Once we reach the pass some of us may choose to hike an additional two miles, roundtrip, to Kearsarge Lakes. At the end of the day we will head back to Bakersfield and stop to eat "probably" in Lone Pine or somewhere along the way. It will be a long day but the views from the top should make the trip well worth it!...

Critically Important Note

If you are not an experienced hiker who hasnt recently or ever hiked the distance and elevation described for this hike I highly recommend you NOT attend this hike because you could be putting yourself and others at risk. If you have any further questions regarding my suggestion please contact me via email and I would be glad to talk with you personally.
