The Milky Way - with Windmills, Infinity Road and The Little Church
Join us on our next adventure to photograph the beautiful Milky Way composed with arching over an infinity road, an old windmill, and highlighting a charming little church. We will end the workshop with a sunrise over a reservoir.
BONUS!!! - This time we will include capturing a model under the Milky Way!! We are adding instruction and practice at lighting and capturing a model under the Milky Way.
We have selected fantastic locations east of Colorado Springs that will set the stage for some gorgeous photographs of Milky Way. Join Ken Childress, David Soldano, David Maynor, and Lars Leber for a night of night photography. Well help you get shots youll be proud to hang on your wall.
As always, we will provide you with a guide to your camera settings and shooting tips, assist you at the shoot site, then provide a post-production video, so your image will come out great. Please read the following information carefully.
This workshop is limited to 12 participants.
A full refund will be given if cancellation is before 9:00 pm on April 11th. After that, no refunds will be given unless your spot is filled. If your spot can be filled, a full refund will be given.
Weather can be unpredictable. We will be watching the conditions closely the day prior and day of the workshop. Please be watching your email for updates earlier in the day prior to the workshop time. Backup dates for the workshop will be the next day, Sunday, April 15th. In the event the weather is bad the entire weekend, the following weekend will be a backup as well.
You will be required to read, sign, and return the American Photo Treks LLC liability waiver. The waiver is downloadable from the signup page on our web site.

What you need:
Camera (capable of ISO 3200+)
Fast lens (f/2.8 or faster), wide angle ideal
Saturday morning April 14,[masked]:30 am. The Milky Way rises at 1:30 am, so be on time so we can be set up at our first location and catch it arching over the eastern horizon. We will be parking close to the location where we will be photographing the Milky Way, so no strenuous hiking will be involved.
We will be photographing in the country east of Colorado Springs. We will send out the specific meeting location information for those who RSVP for the workshop.
Meeting details for the workshop will be sent the Thursday prior to the workshop.
Please understand the weather can be somewhat unpredictable. If we have to cancel the workshop due to weather, refunds will be issued.
We recommend that carpooling be done if possible. This will be a late night, so company while driving increases safety. We are not organizing transportation for this outing.
We will be assisting with composition, exposure, etc. to help ensure that you return with Milky Way photographs you'll be happy with. We are familiar with Canon, Nikon, and Sony cameras. It is assumed that you know the basics of your camera operation.
We will be sending out recommended shooting settings prior to the workshop. Please test them on your camera and lens prior to the workshop.
After the workshop, a link to a short processing video will be sent to all attendees to give you a starting point for processing your images from the night.
