What we'll do
Hello everyone. It gets a little boring in the winter months for aviation photographers.
There arent any airshows and aircraft are in winter maintenance and not taking to the air.
So, to beat back the winter blues I thought a field trip is in store.

2 1/2 hours east of Dallas is Mt. Pleasant, Texas. And, believe it or not, there is a very nice aviation museum there called the Mid America Flight Museum. Scott Glover has been assembling an impressive collection of warbirds over the years. So, lets go to Mt. Pleasant and see them!

The field trip date is Saturday, February 10. The museum is open from 10:00a to 2:00p on Saturday, but Matt Bongers told me he will not chase us out of the museum at 2:00p sharp if we want to stay longer.

Heres my thought, lets plan to arrive at the museum at 11:00a. Well stay and shoot until 2:00p, or after. I think three hours will be plenty of time.

We will have a late lunch after the museum visit. Mt. Pleasant has a couple of good BBQ places.

The museum does not charge a fee, but lets plan to leave a $20 dollar donation, or more, from each of us.

And, lets plan to carpool as we can.

As far as shooting, come out to accomplish what you want to do. Bring lighting if you have it. Bring your tripod. Come with a spirit of experimenting. We will have a lot of skill present and we can use this time as a classroom as well. This trip is for all levels of skill and talent. Matt will roll out a plane or two. Others will be in various states of maintenance. Do not plan on an aircraft flying, but who knows, we might get lucky. I think it will be a fun time of just being around the aircraft. Scott Glover may be able to join us as well.

And, plan on providing a couple of your favorite images to the museum after you process them. Its always great to share images with the aviators since they share their aircraft with us.

So, heres the plan: contact me via email or phone that you want to attend by February 1. Once I see how many we have, well figure out a place to meet and gather to carpool on Saturday, February 10 and plan to leave Dallas around 8:30a.

Lets have fun and go shoot some warbirds! Gary
