Difficulty: Difficult, exposed scrambling via the south ridge

Elevation: about 1400m

Dist.: About 23 km

Estimated time is 9-13 hours but don't sign up if you need to be back in the city by a set time.

Group Size: 6-8 (likely 6)

You need to be in good hiking shape and havescrambling experience. We will be moving at a good pace with minimal water breaks and a longer break at the summit. For those that don't want to scramble to Ribbon peak, they can remain at the third memorial lake.

Sign-up for the waitlist and I'll add people depending on their experience and my personal familiarity.


Gear (Mandatory):

Rock Helmet

Micro-spikes(probably won't need them but bring them regardless)

Hiking Boots

Food / Snacks.

Water.

Proper hiking clothes (no cotton/jeans)

Basic First Aid Kit.

Shell jacket and pants

Sweater/down jacket/ fleece jacket

Toque, Mitts/Gloves.

Headlamp with extra batteries

Recommended:bear spray, hiking poles, sunscreen, emergency bivy sack/Blanket, hand/toe warmers, GPS device.

BE PREPARED. NO COTTON!Weather can change quickly -- rain, snow, wind, warm, or cold.

NOTE: What we are doing out here is dangerous, by registering for this hike you signify that you are aware of the risks associated with nature hiking, snowshoeing, scrambling, wildlife encounters, as well as carpooling. You are aware of your physical limits, and how they relate to these activities. You also signify that you take full responsibility for your own safety. The organizer is not a trained guide, just a volunteer who likes the outdoors. Please do your own preparation for the trip and have all the gear. Be prepared for rain, snow, wind, sun, thunderstorm, bears, cougars, etc. While we will do our best to ensure that everyone returns safe and sound, you will not hold the organizer of the event or the organizers of this group responsible for any harm or liability that might occur as a result of your participation.
