Main Presentation: Humor in Photography - David Powers
Lets laughdeliberately. Funny photographs have been around for a bit, so lets share some of our own, whether they are mistakes or just good timing, or gems of composition. Our March meeting theme will be humor in photography, but we promise no heavy discussion or ponderous critiques. Just fun, from your collection or from the public domain. As a precaution, I am bringing gaffer's tape for personal use. At last, postponed from October, 2016, we're finally able to have this event.
Sources of humor have been debated for centuries. Ive tried it; its unfunny. Here, however, is a boldly interactive collection of visual fun, from the photographic giants to members of our group. Boldly? We are boldly going where no photographer has gone before. Interactive? The group will provide much of the material.
ASAP, send jpegs of photos that are your intellectual property to David Powers at [masked], 1,000 pixels along the longest edge please, along with this statement: I hereby assert that I am the owner of the attached image(s) and grant to David Powers permission to use the attached image(s), with attribution, in a program for the Charlotte Photography Group on humor in photography. If you did this for the October, 2016, meeting, feel free to do it again with an additional pic. I still have those sent back then in the olden days.
This month Stephen Geis will be in the Member Spotlight sharing some of his photographs and thoughts about how he made them.
Very important: We've assembled two GoBoxes which individuals can use to help make photographs for charitable purposes, similar to those we make at Help Portrait every year during the December holidays. On the agenda is more information about the GoBoxes and how members can use them.
