Is the cold weather getting you down? Are you missing spring and summer wildflowers and the pollinators they attract? Miss them no more! Front Range Wildlife Photographers is proud to partner with the Butterfly Pavillion to offer a unique opportunity for a macro photography class and a private butterfly release.

We will meet at the Butterfly Pavillion at 7 am on Saturday, December 2nd where you will be served breakfast. Coffee, tea, juice, muffins, mini-bagels, and fruit will be available.

Between 7:15 am and 7:30 am our private macro photography class will get started. Bob, the photography instructor at the Butterfly Pavillion, will lead us through the basics of macro insect photography.

At 8:15 am we will move into the atrium where we will be given a small cage containing butterflies to be released into the space. I have been informed that the butterflies tend to flutter out of the cage slowly over the course of several minutes so we should have time to capture some in-flight shots. Bob will be there to answer questions and offer advice. Tripods will be allowed until 9 am. After 9 am tripods do need to be put away.

Following the butterfly release, you can stay in the atrium and continue to ask questions of Bob or break off and enjoy the pavilionon your own. The event will officially end at 10 am but you are welcome to stay if you would like additional time.

Your fee includes breakfast, the class fee, and the fee for the release. I am unsure as to whether the class fee also covers admission so please do be prepared topay it directly to the Butterfly Pavillion upon your arrival if needed. Admission is $12 for adults and $10 if you are Westminster resident with photo ID.

This is a custom event that was developed specifically for this group by the Butterfly Pavillion at my request. It has not been offered previously so please do take advantage of this unique opportunity.
