Lecture Description

Machine Learning is not just a concept, it has come to our lives. This lecture will introduce methods and techniques for machine learning. After this lecture, you will understand how machine learning works. You will learn the data types including operational or transactional data such as data for sales, cost, and inventory; nonoperational data such as forecast data and macroeconomic data; and metadata, and learn their patterns, associations, or relationships, and how to use this information for decision making. Statistical learning concepts such as regression, classification, decision trees and model reduction techniques such as principal component analysis will be introduced. Specific examples of engineering and businesses using data mining techniques will be introduced in the lecture. To apply the machine learning techniques in your work, however, a 8-week machine learning course will be needed.
