Father's Day Weekend! What better way to start out than an awesome trip 'round goregous Malibu Creek SP?!

Two rides listed below, although the Advanced group will likely stay off the Switchbacks for a bit due to overgrowth unless the Calabasas locals clear it out.

All riders on Shepherd Cycling rides are asked to complete a waiver for the church. If you haven't yet completed a waiver, you can click this link: 2017_ Shepherd Church Mountain Bike Waiver. Bring your signed waiver form with you to the ride or one will be provided for you to sign before the ride.

Directions:

3701 Lost Hills Rd, Calabasas, CA 91301 (Map)

We will be meeting in front of the recreation center.

Take the 101 Freeway to the Lost Hills Road exit in Calabasas. At the end of the off-ramp proceed south toward the ocean. Park in the lot for Juan Bautist de Anza Park located on the northwest corner of Lost Hills and Las Virgenes Roads. Park along the street if the lot is full.

Ride Description:

Level: All Levels

Ride Duration: About 2 hours moving time / Total ride time approximately 3.5 hours with breaks

Miles/Roundtrip: 13.8 miles

Bathrooms at Trail:Yes - There are bathrooms at de Anza park (but are on occasion closed). There is also a large porta potty in Malibu Creek State Park.

This area has a diverse variety of riding trails from beginner to advanced with fun for everyone. The area is a beautiful open preserve with enjoyable sites along the ride to stop and take some great photos/selfies. The majority of trails are fire roads with a few double wide trails. We will adjust the ride according the riders in attendance and if needed split into beginner and advanced groups.

This Strava link shows the route pretty well.Click the link to show you the area, the mileage, and the elevation gain. It's about 2 hours including breaks. Note: if you have a Strava account you can login to see more detailed information.

IMPORTANT:
Although some posted rides are considered intermediate to advanced level a strong beginner-level rider should be able to make it. As always, all riders should be aware that mountain biking can be extremely physically demanding. Each rider should be conscious of their own limitations. It is encouraged to walk any sections of the trail you are not comfortable riding. Dont be surprised if you are not able to keep up with the group your first time out. Dont get discouraged. It will take some newcomers a few rides before they can build up their leg strength, cardio and overall technique before feeling at home on a mountain bike trail. be encouraged We will have volunteers that will help you along the way and stay with you at your pace.
