Salmon creek *lower 3BIII

The Canyon: A fun route when flowing strong, really pretty final rappel. It's a fairly short canyon which can be completed in 5-6 hours. It could be run year-round due to its lower elevation, but april-october will be the best times for warmer temperatures and stronger flow. 5 rappels total, with max at 90 ft. Car Shuttle required, 15 min drive.

From Kernville continue north on MH-99 as it parallels the Kern River. Continue past Gold Ledge Campground, and over Salmon Creek to a small gravel parking area on the east side of the road. There is a small sign indicating "Salmon Creek Falls" on the south end of this parking area. This parking lot is at[masked] -118.467080. We will Leave vehicles here, divvy up group gear and take two cars to our exit spot 3553'53.10"N, 11827'39.03"W. We will then take the other vehicle and drive to3553'37.00"N, 11827'23.15"W and start our hike up to the canyon together.

RSVPing Requirements: This is an 'added value' trip for anyone who has taken ANY Uber Adventures canyoneering course! You must be experienced enough to be responsible for your own safety and to watch out for everyone else's as well. You must be able to canyoneer in moving water and be able to swim. Although the water will likely be resonably low it will be a fun day away from the hot weather

Logistics: It is a 4 hour drive away from Los Angeles (past Bakersfield), so you should plan to camp at either one of the many developed campsites along the river (advanced reservations STRONGLY RECOMMENDED or free camping dispersed where you can find it. You need to make your own reservations. Please meet at the parking area for Salmon Creek Falls on time as we will not wait for you.

Gear: Wet suits and dry bags! Wetsuites may be forgon if weather is over 90 but you will be more comfy in a thin wetsuit. Plus all your personal gear and any group gear (like bagged ropes).

*REQUIREMENTS to join thiseventas well as any of the other recreationaleventsposted on this Meetup Group, are that you must have taken the Uber Adventures 3-day Technical Canyoneering Course.
